Hwakssen – For Grilling

"Today, instead of grilling meat, we used our home’s side burner for stew. With regular charcoal, it just boils and eventually simmers down… but with bamboo charcoal, not only does it boil well — it never just burns out or shrinks away. We’ve never experienced anything like that before. This might be perfect for stores that need strong heat and long-lasting burn time."

**"We lit the fire and grilled the meat (we’ll skip the grilling scene…). During the post-cooking review, all employees unanimously agreed: 'If the price is right, we’re definitely switching to this!' Although it takes a bit longer to ignite, the fire lasts much longer, there’s minimal charcoal dust, and very little soot. Plus, the charcoal infused the meat with a rich, smoky aroma that really enhanced the flavor. Big thanks to everyone who made this experience possible. Rating: ★★★★☆ (4 out of 5 stars) — we’re holding back one star only because we don’t know the price yet! 😄 That concludes our review of Samgang Hwaseong's bamboo charcoal."**

**"Later on, we even grilled thinly sliced pork belly and pork skin. We were fully satisfied with the heat intensity, burn duration, and minimal ash dispersion — but most importantly, there was no flare-up at all. We intentionally used a basic open grill instead of a professional roaster, and of course, we filled the water tray as usual. Even though we were tense and kept a close eye on the fire, no flare-ups occurred. We plan to test this charcoal daily with pork belly and pork skin to see if any flare-ups happen before deciding on a full purchase. That said, one of our part-time staff looked at the charcoal and said, 'Isn’t this the bad kind of charcoal?' This reminded us once again that the biggest issue with bamboo charcoal is the negative perception people have — they often mistake it for low-quality briquettes. It’s clear that promotional materials like posters or signs must be provided to inform and educate."**

**"Now, it’s time to grill some meat! Surprisingly, even when the fat drips down, there are no flare-ups at all. It’s honestly amazing — totally love it. Even when we kept the heat strong, the charcoal didn’t shrink much and held up really well. The burn stability is impressive. That said, it does seem to have slightly less heat output compared to the charcoal we usually use — the meat didn’t cook super fast. But honestly, it wasn’t a big issue. If we just had one more fire starter and a bit more flexibility, I’d definitely switch over. For me, the biggest advantage by far: no flames even when fat drips onto the charcoal. 👍👍👍👍"**

**"Here’s my review of Samgang Hwaseong’s bamboo charcoal. I thought I had already posted a review when the product first arrived, but it turns out I only uploaded a photo of the delivery — my apologies to the team at Samgang Hwaseong. Anyway, I finally fired it up and grilled some meat today. The charcoal lasted for quite a long time, and as expected, the flavor was great. We really enjoyed the meat. Sorry again for the delayed review!"**
